I assume  everyone is aware that our earthly remains can give life and sight to a number of people. With many types of charity, there may be a conflict between the needs of family and the the charitable impulse but not here.Accidental death is particularly painful for friends and the family of the departed.Knowing that the loved one's death has given life to others should provide some solace. What could be a better memorial than saving the life of another? Theologies which object to removing anything from the corpse were developed at a time when transplants were not possible. The Golden Rule should provide ample reason for reconsidering such dogmas. If you are not an organ donor, what are your reasons? Are they in accord with your moral principles?

Not only am I an organ donor, I'm in the marrow donor listing.

You don't have to wait unitl you're dead to donate, either.  A person can do whole blood or pheresis donation - if they qualify.  Not as many do as one might think.

I like where this thread is going!

    I can't donate -- hepatitis C -- but if I could, I would.`
